About the Advisory Board Member: Nancy Kaufman, MA CCC/SLP

Description from the Kaufman Children's Center:

Nancy R. Kaufman, M.A., CCC/SLP is the Director of the Kaufman Children's Center for Speech and Language Disorders, Inc. (KCC). Prior to opening her private practice, she was a staff speech and language pathologist at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan, for 13 years. The KCC has been open since 1992, and now houses some of the top professionals in the state: a staff of sixteen speech and language pathologists, and two occupational therapists.

Nancy has specialized in the preschool population for 21 years. She is the author of The Kaufman Speech Praxis Test for Children , published in 1995 by Wayne State University Press, and The Kaufman Speech Praxis Treatment Kit for Children , published in 1998 by Northern Speech Services. She lectures locally and nationally on the subject of apraxia of speech in children. Nancy has earned awards for continuing education. She received her bachelor's degree at Michigan State University, and Master's Degree at Wayne State University, having been awarded a Graduate Assistantship. She has three children of her own and is very active with their education. Nancy is highly regarded as a national expert in her specialized field of apraxia of speech. Her center is also becoming well-known for their work with Autism, PDD, and auditory processing disorders in children.
